Congo Basin Traditions

The BaYaka people are one of the last hunter-gatherer communities in the Congo Basin and in the world. The rainforests of the Congo have been inhabited by hunter-gatherers for over 25.000 years. These communities have developed intimated knowledge about the forest and its plant, animal and spirit inhabitants. The BaYaka people believed that a life well lived is a life of sharing.
